Tabula Rasa is the story of Kiki de Montparnasse, famously known as Man Ray’s muse: the girl with the violin back. This show traces their tumultuous eight-year relationship in 1920s Montparnasse, Paris. Their story leaves you to wonder who truly creates the art: the artist? Or their muse?
Tabula Rasa is a DADA jazz opera and iconic artists such as Tristan Tzara, DuChamp, Picabia and Arp discuss the deconstruction of art and society. This piece is designed to be immersive and have the audience travel around the theatrical space with the characters and the orchestra.
Tabula Rasa had its premier at the Blue Building in Manhattan, May of 2018. Watch it here.
