Purcell was inspired by A Midsummer Nights Dream in the creation of his masque The Fairy  Queen. No songs were assigned to particular characters of the Bard, no plotline concluded.  Just a celebration of his fairies and the silly mortals lost in their world. Keeping the spirit of the metaphorical masque structure, I abridged and modified text from Shakespeare’s original play and rearranged Purcell’s songs to create a new 90 min show for Gramercy Opera and the gardens of the Mount Vernon Museum.
